2019 Annual Report

OUR MISSION

To give all people the opportunity to express themselves creatively in a supportive and accessible environment. Each session aims to enable participants of all abilities to gently connect their inner senses so what is held there can be heard and expressed via art, sound and movement.
This program has a range of options helping clients to get back in touch with their felt senses and creativity. Adaptive equipment can be provided to ensure all participants can be involved in each session without limitations due to physical or intellectual capabilities.

THE SERVICE

Express Yourself Project facilitates Art and Music sessions to support people to express themselves through a range of creative outlets. We tailor programs to meet the needs, interests and abilities of people wanting to express their creativity.

2019 PROGRESS

The past 12 months were amazing for Express Yourself Project. We went from trialling our art sessions one on one at the start of the year to opening the art sessions up to a larger group and finally adding music sessions to our fortnightly schedule.

THE PEOPLE

We have been very lucky over the past 12 months to have collaborated with an amazing team of people many of whom have selflessly given their time and efforts to assisting us make the program what it is today.

Our participants have given amazing feedback and have really become part of the planning process which enriches the program beyond belief.

“TODAY’S ART SESSION MADE ME FEEL CALM AND SAFE, IT MADE ME FORGET ABOUT MY EPILEPSY”

We have been blessed to be helped out financially by businesses and individuals through online fundraising platforms.

2020 ON THE HORIZON

We will be starting 2020 in a new hall with improved facilities and a greater connection to the community. We will see our art coordinator return which will allow us to grow the art program and the music program will continue to develop and grow.

We are hoping to multiply the classes so we can bring a whole new group in and begin to change the lives of more individuals in our community.

We are working toward becoming an NDIS provider and expect this to be completed by July 2020 with our initial application to be completed in January 2020.

The next 12 months will see us looking more closely at grants to assist us in bettering the programs aides and equipment, we have worked hard to grow it to this point and we are now at a point where we are able to say with confidence this is a valuable and sustainable program which deserves funding to continue to change lives.
